First Look at Virgil Abloh’s Latest Bags for Louis Vuitton

It's been nearly two years since Virgil Abloh was appointed creative director for Louis Vuitton Menswear. Abloh's direction breathed new life into the brand's men's collections, shining a bright light on them and attracting attention from both men and women. Abloh's creative vision has always been rooted in streetwear, and at a time in fashion when street style ready collections reign supreme, Abloh's designs have been incredibly well-received. For Fall-Winter 2020 Abloh took a look at the ever-evolving men's suit and aimed to challenge traditional dress codes. At the same time, Abloh redefined what the term 'streetwear' actually means, characterizing it as ' the clothes we actually wear and the way we wear them.' In terms of bags, and there were many, monogram...

Fendi took Milan by storm with its latest Fall/Winter 2020 men’s collection, which included an expansive range of covetable new bags. Designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi, the new lineup updates classic styles including the Baguette and Peekaboo in playful fabrications like chunky hand-knit yarn. The typical textile and leather upper of the Baguette, a perennial favorite, is replaced with unexpected black knit. A gold “FF” logo buckle and leather shoulder strap keeps the style looking polished. Fendi’s signature canary yellow takes center stage with a series of bags putting a luxe twist on the brand’s packaging — a shopping bag and box are rendered in leather imitating cardboard and paper. In a similar vein, drawstring pouches recalling shoe dust bags are transformed into stylish shoulder bags arriving in...

Morocco to Celebrate Louis Vuitton SS20 Collection

Virgil Abloh has spotlight the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2020 collection in a new set of campaign imagery titled “Footprints,” and themed around “Man’s positive impact on the planet.” The campaign was shot in Tangier and Chefchaouen in Morocco by photographer Viviane Sassen, with four subsequent sets of imagery set to focus on other continents around the world. Flowers represented a key theme of the collection — which made its debut during Paris Fashion Week in June 2019 — with this motif celebrated throughout the campaign. This motif is described as a “naturally occurring metaphor for multiplicity” and is pictured alongside the models and talent, all of whom were scouted locally in Morocco. Other motifs in the campaign nod to the theme of boyhood, which has been ongoing reference...

Gucci and Disney Celebrate Chinese New Year With Mickey Mouse Collaboration

Although Gucci‘s already prepping a variety of seasonal releases — including Spring/Summer 2020 and the subsequent Pre-Fall range — the Italian luxury brand is squeezing in one more delivery before the new year. In preparation for Chinese New Year 2020, Gucci is rejoining Disney for a brief array of Mickey Mouse goods.   Of course, this isn’t the first time the two companies have joined forces, but it isn’t without reason. Chinese New Year 2020 is the Year of the Mouse — or Rat, depending on translation — meaning that there’s no better time to celebrate Disney’s iconic mascot. To commemorate the season in style, Gucci has revamped a trio of timeless menswear staples with thematic designs. A GG Supreme coated canvas coat sports all-over Mickeys, layered atop Gucci’s legendary interlocking logo. Elsewhere,...

Bvlgari Serpenti Forever Bags

There are few bags as beautiful as what Bvlgari creates and though many first think of the brand for its exquisite jewelry, those who love the bags are part of a growing and very loyal fanbase. And that is with good reason. I see a lot of bags, naturally, but very few tactfully combine the art of jewelry and leather as well as Bvlgari. There is a constant want for designer bags that aren’t what you see on everyone, and Bvlgari fills that need. Here is a closer look at my personal favorite bags from the brand, the Bvlgari Serpenti Forever bags. Each features distinctive lines along with the iconic snake head closure which is the house emblem. The brass gold-plated snake...

Up Close With Gucci’s SS20 Clothing.

Gucci‘s Spring/Summer 2020 presentation delivered controversy and covetable garments in equal measure, with the latter providing slogan-emblazoned layering pieces, baroque prints and plenty of branded accessories and jewelry. HYPEBEAST attended Gucci’s SS20 preview event in Ginza to take a closer look at the new goods, spotlighting some of Alessandro Michele‘s latest menswear and womenswear offerings.   Like the luxury house’s Pre-Fall 2020 range, plenty of lavish suiting and retro-indebted sportswear is on hand, accented by Gucci’s signature green and red stripes and interlocking “GG” logos. An emphasis on chunky earrings and equally clunky chainlink necklaces — often attached to immense sunglasses — reinforces the house’s signature vintage aesthetic, bolstered by wide ties and heeled loafers. Text-laden appliqué accents several jackets, adding visual interest in a similar...
