Departing from the vacation mood and retro nods of its Spring collection, Fendi‘s recent Fall/Winter 2020 show at Milan Fashion Week presented a polished and dangerously seductive range that celebrates the multifaceted modern woman. Inspired by the subversive idea of “soft power,” the collection seeks to take the boudoir into the boardroom, with items of clothing typically associated with sensual pleasure seamlessly woven into the work wardrobe of women in authority. Dusty pink satin, often used in lingerie, was found on a Juliet-sleeved dress and a quilted bustier that meshes with a lace pencil skirt adorned with rows of beaded fringes. Garters became a part of the footwear, as they embraced the ankles and legs like buckled straps, while the criss-cross pattern of fishnet stockings formed the boot...

Donatella Versace fueled already-high anticipation of her Fall/Winter 2020 collection with an Instagram post revealing that Anna Wintour — clad in her signature sunglasses — stopped by the atelier for a sneak peek at the range. Versace’s new offerings were unveiled to the public (or at least lucky invitees) at Milan Fashion Week earlier today, following shows by Marni and Fendi.   Up until now, Versace has unwaveringly riffed on that jungle-print dress worn by Jennifer Lopez to the 2000 Grammys (further rehashing isn’t necessary). Judging from the brand’s decision to release a jungle-print watch, as well as cast JLo as the face of its Spring/Summer 2020 campaign, few would be surprised to see further iterations of the — granted — iconic dress on the FW20 runway. However, Versace presented a pleasant departure from its recent releases with a new collection largely rendered in...

Burberry Reminisces “Memories” of Britain & Afar in London Fashion Week FW20 Runway

The show took place at Kensington Olympia’s National Hall on a mirrored runway, supported by the likes of renowned pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque, as well as the producer Arca who performed a live soundscape curated for the show. Together, the scene was atmospheric and referenced the new direction Burberry is heading in.   Tisci’s collection itself was inspired by the memories he’s accumulated from his travels between London and India, as well as everyone he has met on the way. Speaking on the collection, the chief creative officer said, “I have this strong feeling of pride when I think about the early days of my career, when I was an emerging designer still learning my craft and taking inspiration wherever I could find it.” He...
