Balenciaga – SPRING 2019 READY-TO-WEAR

The project came together when he met digital artist Jon Rafman at Art Basel. Rafman was on hand to talk about the creation of the immersive experience. It had the audience so stunned that people were transfixed in their seats for a good few seconds after it ended, trying to process what they’d just seen. “My work explores new technologies and how our society, our consciousness, our interrelationships have changed,” Rafman said. He and Gvasalia collaborated at a distance, with full creative freedom given to the artist. “It was a marriage of kindred spirits,” Rafman added. Well, being in that tunnel, you couldn’t help but feel you were present. Dealing with focusing on the present, with all the roiling complexities, dissonances,...

Coach to drop fur by Fall 2019

Coach has become the latest brand to say no to fur, Business of Fashion reports. Joining other labels such as Burberry and Gucci, the luxury label has promised that real animal fur will be completely phased out of collections by Fall 2019.     “Coach has been committed to advancing sustainable practices for many years, with the introduction of our corporate responsibility goals in 2015. Back then, we laid the groundwork for prioritizing social and environmental initiatives. The decision to go fur-free is a truly meaningful milestone for the brand,” said Joshua Schulman, President and CEO of Coach in a statement. As part of the brand’s broader program, Coach added, the brand is also dedicated to empowering employees and enhancing the lives of those in the greater community. The Coach Foundation, founded...

The Marni Fall 2018 collection: Big Foot Sneakers

The Marni Fall 2018 collection is characterized by a naive approach expressed through instinctively and spontaneously combined colours, through magnified proportions and through the playful processes of assembling, modifying and matching.         Staying true to an ironic vision in which fun is the key element of traditional clothes and accessories, the new Marni Big Foot Sneakers are a reinterpretation of classic ‘80s running shoes, redesigned with saturated colours and large volumes. The technical fabric upper, embellished with a suede band on the front and side, is combined with a flatform rubber sole.           The sneakers are available in a mustard with a rust-coloured band or in more classic versions in electric blue with a white band and grey with a black band. They...

Victoria Secret’s x Mary Katrantzou Collection

For the second year in a row, an unexpected designer collection will be coming to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The lingerie brand previously partnered with Balmain on a collection both for the runway and in stores. This time, Victoria's Secret announced it will be collaborating with Mary Katrantzou for its show later this year in New York City. The forthcoming collection will be a departure from last year's edgier one. While the Balmain collection typified Creative Director Olivier Rousteing's sexy and overembellished designs, viewers can expect more playful designs from Katrantzou. Referred to as the "Queen of Prints," the Athens-born, London-based designer recently celebrated her brand's 10th anniversary during London Fashion Week.   "Everything that Victoria's Secret creates is about a woman feeling confident and empowered —...

Cara Delevingne Wore a Top Hat to the Royal Wedding

The Brit actress arrived to Princess Eugenie's wedding at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in a full top and tails ensemble. Her well-tailored black tuxedo suit comes complete with a cropped jacket with tails and ankle-length, waist-cinching trousers, layered over a simple white button-down. But it's the accessories that really nail it. Delevingne layered a black silk cummerbund over her suit and finished the look with a silver single-knot tie and classic black pumps for a little feminine flair. Ever the thespian, she brings drama to the look, topping it off with an actual top hat, and a match in the corner of her mouth....

At long last, your first look at H&M's upcoming designer collaboration with Moschino, first announced back in April, is here. Following in the very-rapidly-sold-out footsteps of Erdem, Kenzo and Balmain, Jeremy Scott's Moschino is the latest high-end label to link up with the Swedish mega-retailer for a limited-edition mass-market offering. Meaning, if you've been hankering to get yourself a piece of Moschino's wild-and-crazy wares at H&M prices, now's your chance. Scott has never met a pop culture theme he hasn't just devoured, and Moschino x H&M's full lookbook, released on Thursday, is one of the more eccentric examples of that penchant. With Disney and MTV characters and logos galore, this is one TV-inspired range that's not for the faint of heart. The 1980s and 1990s...

It Bag: Gucci’s Spring 2019 Runway Show

Fashion month has been over for almost a week, but Gucci did things a little differently this year. Not only did the Italian brand do a one-time-only show in Paris instead of Milan, but for days after the show, images of the collection's details were scant in all the usual spots we can usually find such things. Because Gucci is such a big, influential player in the accessories business, though, we've kept checking, and finally, our efforts were rewarded: we have just over a dozen photos of Gucci's Spring 2019 handbags to share with you. Hard to say how Mickey Mouse figures into all of this, except that his head got made into a handbag, which you will be able to buy for...
