Jack O’Connell, 26-year-old, has been named to role as Alexander McQueen in a new film celebrating the fashion designer’s life. English actor best known for his roles in Unbroken, ’71 and the TV show Skins. McQueen, one of the UK’s most celebrated and influential designers, who committed suicide in 2010 at the age of 40. The film will be directed by Andrew Haigh who has previously made 45 Years and Weekend. The script will be written by Chris Urch, the playwright behind The Rolling Stone, and based on the McQueen’s biography Blood Beneath the Skin by Andrew Wilson. Plot that centres around McQueen’s Fall/Winter 2009 collection, the show before death in 2010. The biopic is expected to begin shooting in spring.
