Streets of Fashion Week SS19

From New York to London, Milan and Paris later this month, Fashion Week for the Spring/Summer 2019 season is currently in full swing. While it’s still early to conclude the overall runway trends for the coming year, there is, as always, a lot to be learnt just from looking at the show-goers who are flooding the streets of the world’s major fashion capitals.

Printed maxi dresses have been trending heavily this Spring/Summer, and it’s going to get even more popular in the season ahead. Belted ones are proving to be the most favoured choice for most: go for those with long bell sleeves for extra elegance, or ones that come with puffed shoulders for an 80s vibe. Don’t forget to cap off the look with bold coloured shoes (neon ones, if you wish to nail one more trend in your attire) for an extra visual highlight.

If you haven’t heard already, terracotta is going to be one of the hottest colours come fall. Landing just between orange and brown, this beautiful, poetic hue reminds us of dried leaves and old bricks, and will work brilliantly on any item and in any fabric, whether it’s a suede jacket, silk shirt, satin dress, PVC trench coat, or even a windbreaker.

Jackets and coats in plaid, check and tartan patterns are almost always a hit for the Fall/Winter season. It’s such a typical recurring trend that it sometimes can get a little too predictable to mention. At Fashion Week SS19, however, we’ve been delighted to see a number of interesting hybrid designs on some of the street style stars, all featuring the pattern that has been sliced and cut to merge with the classic beige trench coat or blazer for a very contemporary spin.

From the ones with drawstrings, boxed-shape, or geometric designs to those with quirky details and never-before-seen silhouettes — top handle bags are what we, and a lot of the street stylers out there are pouring over right now. We honestly love them all but if we have to choose, we’d go for the ones with contemporary shapes paired with embossed croc-leather effect for an intriguing mix of classic sophistication and modern day flair.
