Settles Down with Dior Matte Pre-Fall 2018

Several seasons of aesthetic upheaval have given way to classic, traditional looks from Dior   A lot has been happening on the aesthetic front at Dior in the past several seasons. Celebrated designer Raf Simons left unexpectedly and took his sleek, feminine futurism with him, after which the brand appointed Maria Grazia Chiuri, half of the duo responsible for Valentino's gangbusters success over the last decade. It was immediately clear that Chiuri's vision for Dior was different from Simons' in many ways: it was far more casual, it had a decidedly more vintage feel, even the use of color was world's apart. (Simons tended toward brights or pastels in his time at Dior; Chiuri prefers dark neutrals, theming an entire recent collection around navy.) In that...

NANTUCKET JETÉ DE DIAMANTS BY HERMES

Diamonds break out of the mould as the miniature Nantucket appears in a whirl of sparkling radiance. At its birth in 1991, this model was fitted with a rectangular case featuring the “Anchor Chain” motif created by Henri d’Origny who had been asked to design a square shape.     Continuing the saga of an aesthetic rebellion, this “Très Petit Modèle” further accentuates the outline of the original design and celebrates diamonds for daily wear, dotted around as if the wind had scattered them across the watch. Nantucket thus becomes a relaxed piece of daytime jewellery. Crafted in steel, it is fitted with a choice of single tour alligator straps in smooth ember or matt étoupe, Mykonos blue, cactus green, abysse blue, black...

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG Winter 2017-2018 Collection

“Eleven and a half months,” as he pointed out. The winter collection - “formerly known as resort,” said Saunders. Saunders seems to have a grip on how to finesse the brand backbone — color, print, cheerful glamour — with an eye toward sophistication and modernization without going too far in either direction. Working with bias-cut silhouettes and simple shapes has been key to reining in the mixed prints and color.   He’s been turning on fashion editors with his bias-cut floral-print frocks. Naturally, there were more of those in his new Resort lineup, including a pretty slip dress style that combined black and a peachy shade of pink. Given the delivery time of this collection—just before the holidays—he experimented with a jewel-tone...

So while we are huge believers in NYFW, and in many ways have it to thank for so much, we are opting out of being on the...

PAUL SMITH SPRING/SUMMER ’18 CAMPAIGN

Paul Smith looks to the ocean for spring/summer ’18 with a black and white campaign featuring Polish model Malgosia Bela and Ben Allen.
