STELLA McCARTNEY AUTUMN 2018 Collection

Reinterpreting Stella McCartney’s signature masculine play on feminine silhouettes, exploring the multi-faceted wardrobe of a woman. Creating an optical illusion, zigzag and stripe motif in hot chili red, inky black and white is graphic. Printed onto a jacquard moiré, the striking multi-layered print effect appears in pyjamas and tiered dresses. Deconstructed lingerie both reveals and conceals for an effortlessly sexy attitude. Slip dresses in dusty rose and turquoise are purposefully undone. A dress peels away whilst another has an open keyhole back revealing the lining and construction. Knitwear is boiled and stitched with lace detailing. Combining delicate femininity with sportswear and extending on the current collaboration, a classic Adidas Originals tracksuit with the iconic 3 stripes is spliced with panels of...

adidas Originals by Alexander Wang Season 3 – Drop 3

adidas Originals and Alexander Wang launch the last drop of Season 3 at select retaillocations, adidas Originals and Alexander Wang flagship locations, and both brands’ ecommerce sites. Inspired by flaws in the clothing production process, the collection turns errors into thefoundation of the collection. With pixelated graphics, uneven prints, and perma-wrinkled fabrics, rejection is established as the new perfection. The inspiration behind Drop 3 comes from a fictional unlabeled box found in the adidas archives, full of forgotten, untouched, forever-folded (and creased) samples. With new textures and fabric breakthroughs, adidas Originals & Alexander Wang seek to reimagine core adidas staples, as well as new pieces such as crop tops, skirts, and dresses. In a feat of material invention, each piece is perma-wrinkled for a discarded...

Diane Von Furstenberg Spring-Summer 2018

Jonathan Saunders’ Summer 18 collection for DVF is a range of day-focused clothes with an air of romance and nostalgia. “I was thinking first of the color palette. It felt interesting to me to combine and surround bright prints and textile designs with neutral earthy colors. I was imagining hazy summer days; interiors of wicker and tapestries; bias cut ribbons of silk draped over the body, but also thinking of the eccentricity and the free spirit of a musician on the road,”says Saunders. Feminine and dreamy, the clothes evoke natural movement and energy. Full blouson sleeves, smocking, and pin-tucking bring architectural volume to the silhouette. The clothes are cut and worn with ease: a wrap-style dress with kimono-inspired top, tie-front shirting, and...

Gucci Resort 2019

Alessandro Michele, Italian fashion designer and creative director of Gucci, found a way to transport the audience with the Gucci Resort 2019 show. Taking place in the Alyscamps, a Roman cemetery outside of the old town of Arles, France, the show was a spectacular nighttime display of both fashion and epic ancient history.   Gucci Resort 2019 displayed a gothic attitude, various streetwear elements, and death and religious-inspired details that appropriately matched the location. There were floral silk prints, tiger patterns, velvet dresses, embroidered capes, and fur coats. Models held flower bouquets and appeared out of the fog, creating a strange yet fascinating spooky-Catholic image. Embroideries were filled with references to local history and some outfits even featured poetry by a famous Italian...
